2019 W Lincoln Penny 3-Pc Set – ANACS First Release Limited Edition 139

These are the first ever Lincoln penny coins minted at the WestPoint Mint with an identifying mintmark. In this special limited edition 3-pc set is a Lincoln penny with a proof strike. This is the first Lincoln penny in the 110-year history of the series ever minted with a W, for WestPoint Mintmark engraved onto the coin. The second coin is a reverse proof coin. This means the image of Abraham Lincoln is presented with a bright shiny mirror-like surface and the background of the coin is matte. This is exactly opposite of how a regular proof coin is struck and presented, hence the term reverse proof. This coin also has the W mintmark. The third coin is a special uncirculated coin that has a W mintmark. All three coins have been certified in perfect 70 condition. The first coin is PR70, the second coin is certified in RP70, and the final coin is certified in SP70. These are the only three Lincoln pennies issued with a W mintmark.

They are the most unique and collectible coins in the series after the original 1909 The Lincoln cent, designed by renowned sculptor Victor David Brenner (VDB) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln arguably our most popular president – in 1809. The coins have been certified by ANACS and are First Release coins. Only 139 individually numbered sets have been certified as First Release in the perfect 70 grade. 139 is a tiny number, less than 3 sets per state. The U.S. Mint does not sell these coins together. Each coin was issued at a different time of year as part of larger mint or proof sets. We are including the rest of the coins issued with these special W mint Lincoln Penny coins.

• Lincoln cents are the most popular classic U.S. coin of the 20th century that is still issued today.
• First coins with a W mintmark – Firsts are always coveted by collectors.
• Condition & Rarity – perfect 70 grade – finest known!  Only 139 numbered sets.
• One year only series – will never be minted again!
• Coins not sold as a 3-pc set must be assembled through purchase of mint & proof sets.

Condition Mint State 70 (MS70) Reverse Proof 70 (RP70) Specimen 70 (SP70)

Coins are graded on a 70-point scale with “70” being absolute perfection. In 1948, Dr. William Sheldon, a renowned numismatist, developed the Sheldon Scale, assigning number grades from "1" through "70" to coins. The basis of Sheldon’s theory was that a "70" would be worth 70 times as much as a "1."

The numerical grades MS60 through MS70 are used to denote business strike coins that never have been in circulation. A Mint State coin can range from one that is poorly struck with many marks and hairlines (MS60), to a flawless, fully struck, lustrous example with superb eye appeal (MS70).

This collection also features coins certified in perfect Proof 70 and Specimen 70. These terms refer to the method of manufacture.

ANACS Certified label

A coin collector buys both the coin and the slab. In addition to buying the certification service’s reputation and a numeric grade, the coin buyer purchases the holder as a physical object. ANACS certified First Release individually numbered labels enhance and differentiate your coin from others in the same grade, serving a function beyond recording the coin’s authenticity and condition. The presentation and collectible value of these coins is enhanced by being identified as a coveted limited edition of just 139 sets.
