2008-2020 COMPLETE 13-PIECE ENHANCED DESIGN VARIETY SILVER EAGLES SETS PCGS MS70
2020 is the final year the American Silver Eagle, (ASE) will be issued
with the beloved John Mercanti Heraldic Eagle design on the reverse of
the coin. The pinnacle of the American Silver Eagle collector market is
PCGS certified coins in perfect MS70 condition. Many coins are so scarce
in perfect PCGS MS70 condition they are almost unattainable. In stark
contrast with uncirculated bullion coins that can readily be acquired
for around $55 each, the 1990, 1993, 1994 and 1996 coins command over
$6,000 each and the 1999 is $13,500 in PCGS MS70!
In 2008 the US Mint made some dramatic changes to ASE coins reverse to
enhance their appearance. Some of the major differences for this new
variety were in the lettering on the reverse of the coin, specifically
on the letter "U" in "United" and in the thirteen stars configuration
over the eagle’s head.
These 13 coin sets have each ASE coin issued with the new enhanced
modified reverse Mercanti design used since 2008 through 2020. The coins
in these sets have been hand selected for their superb and uniform eye
appeal. To enhance their collectible value and differentiate them from
any other PCGS certified collection, we also had the PCGS certified
label of each coin hand signed by Jim Peed, the longest serving current
era U.S. Mint Designer. Jim has many design credits and is best known
for collaborating with John Mercanti on the 1984 $10 Olympic gold coin,
the first coin issued with a W for WestPoint mintmark, and 1997 $5
Jackie Robinson Gold Commemorative. His initials “JP” are displayed on
the coins.
Each coin in these magnificent 13 coins sets has been certified in
perfect MS70 condition by PCGS. This means the coins are flawless under
5X magnification. These are large and impressive sets of coins, every
coin has been individually hand signed by Jim Peed. That’s 13
signatures! These sets are a great value. By way of comparison, a
complete 1986 – 2020 ASE set certified in perfect MS70 condition and
signed by Jim Peed commands $79,995!
