2008 28-COIN MINT SET

AMAZING SILVER DOLLAR MINT ERROR COINS-ICG CERTIFIED

These are the only major mint errors discovered in the 25 year history of the U.S. mint's silver dollar commemorative coin program. The Mint has sold more than 16 million silver dollars to collectors since 1983. In all that time no major mint errors have been discovered. This coin is from a hoard of 875 coins. These are Type II blanks with raised edges ready to be struck, (More desirable than Type I planchets with no raised edges). ICG has authenticated, certified and graded them mint state 60 (MS60). We classify them on a mint error coin rarity factor of 5 = RARE (999 down to 99 known). This is the first time coins from this hoard have been offered to the public. 10 U.S. SILVER PROOF SETS

The term proof refers to the method of manufacture and not the condition of a coin. Proof coins are struck in limited quantities just for collectors. Here we have put 10 silver proof sets with consecutive dates together. You'll receive every silver set from 1959 to 1964, then the 1968, 1969 and 1970 sets.(The mint did not make silver proof sets in 1965,1966 and 1967).

JOHN ADAMS PRESIDENTIAL DOLLAR MINT ERROR COIN

This is the second coin released in the new presidential dollar coin series with a major mint error. This coin has double edge lettering. While double edge lettering is not as rare as the plain edge coins it is more interesting to look at. The new presidential dollars have the mandatory inscriptions and legends around the edges of the coin rather than on the front and back. On these coins the inscriptions "In God We Trust", "E Pluribus Unum", the date and mintmark have been struck twice completely randomly and has caused an interesting jumble of letters. PCGS, ICG and NGC have all created special holders for the presidential dollars that allow the collector to view the edge lettering. These coins have a rarity factor of 4, Very Scarce = 9,999 down to 1,000 coins known. These coins are 10 x more rare then the Washington plain edge dollars. A further twist that could make these coins even more collectible is that Congress has passed a bill mandating that the inscriptions that now appear on the edges of the coins are put on the front and back of future presidential dollars. This could happen in 2008 or 2009. If this does happen it will make all of the 2007 coins a one year only design. Our special Internet price price for this NGC certified coin is $395.
